| If I were asked to send a message specifically to a single social group, I would send it to the young people, so that they might start out further along the road than the point at which I have arrived, at my age, through long experience—so that they wouldn’t waste their time, trying to find the right path. The advice I would be inclined to give after my whole life experience is this: Hold on with all your faith to the truth of Christ, and uniting yourself to Him, strive to increase in the unending process of being ennobled by becoming like Him. As God Who became forever incarnate as a man, He raised up His humanity to the supreme height; and He will raise ours up also, helping us to grow in love for Him and for our neighbor.

Fasting has always been very difficult for me. I am not what one would call a great faster and I struggle every year with the fast periods of the Church. I love food! Anyone who knows me knows that I have never missed a meal and I love to eat. I guess my size would be a great give-away on this issue. However the Orthodox Church, of which I am priest, believes in the spiritual discipline of fasting during certain periods of the church year.

Worship, for the Orthodox Church, is nothing else than 'heaven on earth.' The Divine Liturgy is something that embraces two worlds at once; both in heaven and on earth the Liturgy is one and the same - one altar, one sacrifice, one presence.

If you are Orthodox Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old.
